And the 2014 Amateur Player Draft is underway and with the first overall selection, the Houston Astros select LHP Brady Aiken, a high schooler from San Diego. Third prep lefty ever selected #1 overall. Still no righty high schoolers taken #1-1.
This is the best player on the board and instead of reaching a bit for Jackson or Gordon, they get their guy. This does influence the Mets a bit, as I see it probably keeping Gatewood and certainly Forbes outside of the top 10. It might mean Turner goes off the board to Philly or Toronto. Stay tuned.
