The Mets have hired Jeremy Barnes to be their director of player development initiatives. Barnes will work in tandem with the team's new farm director, Kevin Howard.

Barnes previously spent four seasons as a hitting instructor in the Astros organization.

The Mets have parted ways with Mike Barwis, whom they hired as a senior strength and conditioning consultant in 2014.

Barwis does still run a public fitness center attached to the Mets' spring training facility, but he is no longer an advisor for the team's performance staff.

Syracuse.com: IL, PCL out under revamped alignment; Syracuse Mets part of new Triple-A league. The (Syracuse) Mets are now part of a 20-team Triple A East. The Pacific Coast League, which had been comprised of western teams, is now a 10-team Triple-A West. Syracuse will play in a 6-team Northeast Division, along with Buffalo, Lehigh Valley, Rochester, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Worcester. This group is virtually identical to Syracuse’s 2019 IL North Division, with Worcester jumping in for Pawtucket.

MLB.com: Binghamton Rumble Ponies will play in the Double-A Northeast, Northeast Division; The Brooklyn Cyclones, High-A East, North Division; St. Lucie Mets, Low-A Southeast, East Division.

Not all bad - minor leaguer swill get significant raises from extremely woeful all the way up to somewhat passable.

Best Mets hitter of all time, long term, yes, I'll go with Keith. Shorter term, Jeff McNeil.

Oscard de la Cruz (sounds like a prize fighter) added to Mets' Top 30, but I also wonder how Bryce Montes de Oca will do this year. Hopefully both will be de-lightful.
