Alex Newman:
link - Alex Newman, OF, Gahr HS, Cerritos, Calif. - Newman was the top “sleeper” at Westmont. Strong and athletic, Newman runs extremely well (6.75). He flashed promising defensive skills with a nifty catch during the game portion of the event. While Newman does not throw well, his bat during BP exhibited provocative flashes of quickness and bat speed
Hawtin Buchanan:
7-18 from: - link - rhp - Extremely tall, and he still manages to have projection despite already packing on some 230-240 pounds on his 6’8’’ frame. He has a very deceptive above-average fastball when he’s on, and his release point is so close to the plate that his 88-90 mph fastball looks more like 91-93. His curveball is a potential plus pitch, too, and I’ve heard of a few average changeups thrown in when he was here at East Cobb a couple weeks ago. If he had 3-4 more miles an hour on his fastball, we’d be talking about him as a top ten pick.
Ryan Wright:
7-16-10 from: - link - Ryan Wright (Louisville) collected a team-best three hits as the Collegiate National Team took game two of the five-game international friendly series against Korea, 8-1 Thursday night.
Tyler Davis:
7-13-10: - MaxPreps Junior All-American Baseball Team - Tyler Davis, Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.), Pitcher - Davis was unflappable on the mound for Archbishop Mitty, which finished ranked No. 3 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 final rankings. He was 11-0 and struck out 82 batters in 78 innings with a 2.87 ERA.
Stewart Ijames:
7-19 from: - link - It seems as though Stewart Ijames (Louisville) has found a home. And it looks like he is settling in nicely. Ijames has earned this week’s Coca Cola Player of the Week award in only his third week with Y-D. Ijames, who was traded from Harwich to the Red Sox on June 24th, put together a monster week at the plate. In seven games, he batted .423 with a home run and eight RBI. Over the course of those games, he produced a run in all but two, and recorded a hit in all seven. Ijames’ uniform shuffle is a surprise, considering the Louisville redshirt sophomore was a 2008 Freshman All-American. He missed 2009 due to shoulder troubles, but rebounded in 2010, batting .324 with 14 homers.

Alex Newman - Newman has only one speed on the baseball field and that's FULL SPEED! Newman ran the fastest 60 time in 2011 class at 6.68. He can go get it in the Outfield. He swung it well in bp and his hands are very quick with some pop in his bat. He can steal bases and really patrol the outfield. Definite next level prospect!
His two yr combined varsity high school & pro scout team batting line:

A two way threat and represents a
renewed emphasis on talent similar to major leaguers such as Granderson,
Jackson, Span, & McCutchen who combine speed & deceptive gap power
into a single package.
Alex Newman (Update):
He hit .428 during the 2011 Senior Fall Classic in Peoria, AZ.
He appears to have added 10 lbs of upper body muscle since the spring CIF championship series without any impact on his above average speed in CF or base stealing. Has a high waist, lean athletic build that holds nice potential to continue to develop as he matures.
While he's more of a line drive, gap to gap hitter who can work deep into 2 strike counts, Alex has exhibited 350 - 400' flyball power to LF & RF when the situation warrants it.
