LAST GAME: Despite a late, two-run rally by Binghamton in the

ninth, Bowie escaped with a narrow 6-5 victory over the BMets

Wednesday afternoon at Prince George’s Stadium, giving

the Baysox a three-game sweep. Robert Carson pitched

worthy of a win, and left with the game tied only to be hung

with the loss. Carson tossed 6.2 innings and allowed four runs

on six hits. Chorye Spoone proved to be the winner thanks to

a three-run, seventh-inning outburst that took him off the

hook. Spoone hurled seven innings and allowed three runs on

six hits with seven strikeouts. Josh Satin and Brahiam

Maldonado managed two-hit games and Sean Ratliff drove in

a pair of runs. Brandon Waring paced Bowie with a perfect 3-3

day, with two doubles and two RBI. Pedro Beato saved the

game for the Baysox when he got Nick Evans to ground into a

game-ending double play with the bases loaded and one out.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Josh Stinson will try to

break Binghamton’s four-game losing streak with his 10th

start of the season. He beat New Hampshire in his last start,

July 17, with six innings of one-run work in which he scattered

seven hits and tied a season-high with six strikeouts. Stinson

is 7-1 with a 3.18 ERA over 87.2 innings in 2010. His ERA

ranks sixth-best in the Eastern League. In 2009, he split the

season between Savannah (Low-A) and St. Lucie (High-A) and

went 5-3 with eight saves and a 2.86 ERA in 78.2 innings

combined. The Mets took the right-hander in the 37th round

of the June 2006 draft out of Northwood HS (LA).

RHP Brayan Villarreal, who was called up from Lakeland (High-

A) yesterday, will make his Double-A debut against the B-Mets

tonight. With the Flying Tigers, he was 7-4 with a 3.47 ERA

over 16 starts spanning 85.2 innings with 90 strikeouts. Last

season, Villarreal went 5-5 with a 2.87 ERA over 103.1 innings

with West Michigan (Low-A). He started the season in

the bullpen and made 10 relief appearances with a 0.73 ERA

(24.2 IP) before moving into the starting rotation where he

made 16 starts. Detroit signed Villarreal as an international

free agent October 25, 2005.
