2011 DRAFT: - George Carter, Daniel Bowman, John David Crow, John Simms... and Nick Delmonico

George Carter:

7-26 from: - link  - Here are some names of draft eligibles for 2011 who have not been mentioned much and are definitely on the radar for 2011 MLB scouting depts. – First Base - George Carter, N. Guilford HS, NC, 6'3 200, another hitter with good power, also pitches, likes playing 1b more, still learning strike zone as hitter, getting better each yr.

Daniel Bowman:

7-30-10 from: - link  - • Daniel Bowman, OF, Coastal Carolina -- In a Cape League crop distinctly lacking in power-hitting bats since the departure of Team USA standouts, Bowman's power stands out in a big way. Although he did not win the home run derby, he clearly stole the show by sending multiple shots well over the Monster Seats in left field. The righty-swinging Bowman has more than held his own offensively in the Cape, and he continues to show legitimate, plus big league power.

John David Crow:

8-1 from: - link  - Auburn commit that I honestly don’t have a lot on right now, and I’m looking forward to seeing him play. From what I do know, scouts generally like his bat, and there’s a good chance he hits for average against good pitching. He’s not the best or most polished defender, though, and I know he hasn’t always been a catcher, and some scouts think he’s better suited for third base, but I don’t know the details of why. Sounds like a less physically impressive Kellin Deglan.

John Simms:

8-1 from: - link  - The USA Baseball 18U National Team over Korea 4-2 at Baseball Central Saturday. USA improves to 6-1 in 2010 IBAF World Junior "AAA" (18U) Baseball Championships with the victory. John Simms (The Woodlands, Tex.) pitched seven strong innings, allowing two runs, both unearned, on just two hits with six strikeouts. Simms was efficient in the early going, tossing a perfect slate through the first 3 2/3 frames. The Woodlands, Tex., product labored in the fourth, but wriggled out of the inning unscathed with a timely pick off.

Nick Delmonico:

8-3 from: - link  - More of a solid player than a top-level talent to me. Above-average hitter with average power, fringe-average runner. Good arm, but not the most polished at catcher. Could end up at third base, but I think there’s a good chance he ends up at Georgia.
