Cutnpaste: - Mike Pelfrey, Chone Figgins, Zach Lutz, Steve Henderson... and Kyle Allen

Mike Pelfrey:

link  - Mike Pelfrey – In the beginning of the season, Pelfrey was riding high as the addition of a splitter helped him get off to a fast start, where he was 4-0 with a 0.69 ERA and a save in his first five outings. But since then he is 6-6 with a 5.04 ERA, or pretty much the same guy who went 10-12 with a 5.03 ERA in 2009. In his last seven games, Pelfrey is 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA. He has 16 BB and 14 Ks in 30 IP in that span. This is an easy bench. And even if you think he is bound for regression – he does have a .468 BABIP in his last seven games – there are rumors that the Mets might skip one of his starts.

Chone Figgins:

link  - The Mets and Mariners have been very involved in trade discussions, and Chone Figgins could be the main piece of property that's moved in any deal. This is mainly piecing a few things together to try to see what fits at this point. We know that the Mets and Mariners are talking trade. We know the Mariners shopped Figgins before the trade deadline and that he would almost surely clear waivers after the deadline. We know that Fernando Martinez and Ruben Tejada were scratched from their Triple-A lineups without any reason given. Put it all together and we could have a trade brewing. It's possible Luis Castillo could be involved in the deal, as well. Stay tuned.

Zach Lutz:

link  - Why He's Here: .333/.417/1.095 (7-for-21), 5 HR, 1 2B, 10 RBIs, 6 R, 3 BB, 5 SO - The Scoop: Lutz offers a tutorial on how to make one's hits count. Though he collected just seven base knocks for the week, six of them went for extra bases, and five of those cleared the wall. Lutz knocked in 10 runs, and he's been on an absolute tear since returning to Binghamton on July 27, going 13-for-29 (.448) with seven homers, three doubles and 15 RBIs in seven games. Already 24, Lutz is not exactly the second coming of David Wright for the Mets, but he has bat speed, he makes hard contact and he can play an average third base. That's a great return on a fifth-round pick from Division III Alvernia (Pa.) University. Now if Lutz could only stay healthy. He played in a career-high 109 games last season, but injuries cut short his 2007-08 campaigns and forced him to the sidelines for six weeks this year.

Steve Henderson:

link  - This Mets fan-favorite of the late 70s/early 80s set the tone for his success against the Braves by beating them with a walk-off home run on June 21, 1977, six days after being traded to the Mets as part of the deal for Tom Seaver. Henderson is just a hair before my time as a Mets fan, but I think I'd have liked him based on his penchant for big hits (my boss at ESPN, and my fellow bloggers have a few good memories of those). He'd knock in 12 runs in nine games against the Braves that season. As a Met, he hit .321 with six home runs and five game-winning RBI for teams that didn't win too often.

Kyle Allen:

link  - Kyle Allen, RHP, Grade B-: 5.03 ERA, 52/53 K/BB in 98 innings for St. Lucie, 99 hits. I thought he was a major breakthrough candidate, but he's been pretty awful, with significant command problems.
