Let’s review the Mets 2012 salary situation at this point:
Cot Baseball reports that the Mets 2011 salaries totaled to: $ 142,797,166
So far, the following deletions have been executed for the 2012 season:
4-1-11: Released P Oliver Perez ($12mil)
4-1-11: Released 2B Luis Castillo ($6.25mil)
4-1-11: Released OF Gary Mathews ($1mil)
7-12-11: Traded P Francesco Rodriguez ($12,166,666)
7-28-11: Traded OF Carlos Beltran ($20,070,000)
To Date: - $ 51,486,666.00
That puts the current Mets 2012 salaries at: $91,310,500.
All five of the above positions have been filled by players from the system making the minimum $400K per year. That adds $2mil to the salaries, raising today’s estimates $93,310,500.
Current estimates is that the Mets 2012 salaries will top off at $110mil, which means there is $16,689,500 left to give Jose Reyes a raise, and decide who else will be on this team.
Note: The Mets have been operating in September with a payroll of $90mil. $110mil actually would be a decent increase.

I think that Met fans would have the right to be annoyed with the Wilpons if they HELD Alderson to $110 Million. I think Alderson should have the "Freedom" to raise the payroll as high as $140 Million. The key is I don't think he'll NEED to raise it higher than $120.
He really doesn't...
1B, 2B, CF, RF, and 4 SP slots will all come from the minor prospects.
Pay Jose
Then go out and get yourself an outfielder
I don't think he'd be wrong to get a closer.
