Scouting Report: Joey Gallo is one of the
premier prep bats in the 2012 draft class out of Bishop Gorman High in Nevada.
He is an imposing figure at the plate with a left-handed swing that provides
easy power to all fields. He has a smooth swing and puts on fireworks displays
when he takes batting practice. Joey's new highlight of his career was when he
hit a home run that traveled 442 feet at the Perfect Game All-American Classic
that earned him MVP honors. It was the longest homer ever at the All-American
Classic and the 10th longest homer ever hit at the Padres' Petco Park. Gallo
also shows solid actions at 3rd Base and is very athletic for a guy his size. He
has a plus arm that fires bullets across the diamond. That arm is also helpful
on the mound where he is consistently in the low 90's with his fastball and tops
out at 94. Gallo also has the makings of an above-average curveball and decent
change-up. He can struggle with quality off speed offerings at times while
batting although the bat does stay through the zone long in his swing and he
should become more adept at hitting secondary offerings at the next level. I
consider Gallo to be a better position prospect right now, although some teams
may see his big body and 94 MPH fastball and want to put him on the
hill.

i like this draft choice but personally, after looking at that list, i would love for the mets to take Max Fried or Lance Mccullers.
Both are two of the top pitchers in the country...
I'm still praying for a catcher.
I would also love somehow for zunino to fall to the Mets, I think it would be a dream situation.
My only reservation with Fried is his thin frame and the fact that he has been throwing his curveball since he was twelve, which could have put a lot of stress on his arm. Despite this, I think he is the player I want the Mets to get after Zunino.

91-94, hit 95... but curve much improved to 74-76 (from 71-73 last year) with improved spin and break
I do like Weickel as well, he is young and has very good size, in addition to a quality fastball and improving breaking stuff (according to your report). I feel like he could fill out and add a few ticks to the fastball also. I know that the mets are thin in regards to position prospects but you can never have enough good pitching (Atlanta). If the mets do decide to go with an arm, it would certainly give them an exciting collection at both higher and lower levels.
