Taylor Teagarden hit a grand slam in his Met debut and
Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched 6 strong innings the Mets snap their 6 game losing
streaking beating the Brewers at Citi Field Tuesday night 6-2. Daniel Murphy gave the Mets a 2-0 lead in the
bottom of the 3rd on a 2 run homer (5). The Brewers cut the lead in
half in the 4th on an RBI double by the Lyle Overbay. Then in the bottom of the 6th
Teagarden hit an opposite field grand slam (1) to break the game open. The
Brewers made it 6-2 in the top of the 8th when Carlos Gomez doubled
home Scooter Gennet. Then Jeurys Famila struck out Khris Davis and Aramis
Ramirez to end the threat. Matsuzaka
went 6 he allowed 3 hits 1 run (earned) walked 3 and struck out 5. He gets the win;
he’s now 3-0. Jenrry Mejia pitched a 1-2-3 9th to end the game. Marco Estrada got the loss he’s now 5-4. The Mets
are now 29-35 and 15-17 at home. Wednesday night is game two of the series.
Jacob deGrom (0-2 3.19) goes for the
Mets, Wily Peralta (5-5 3.03)goes for
the Brewers.
