Saturday afternoon Chase Headley went 2 for 3 with a homer
(6) and 2 RBI and Jesse Hahn allowed just 1 hit in 6 scoreless innings; the
Padres blanked the Mets 5-0. The Mets only managed two hits on the day; Ruben
Tejada’s infield single leading off the first and Lucas Duda’s opposite field
single in the bottom of the ninth. Hahn was brilliant going 6 allowing just the
hit to Tejada while walking 3 and striking out 7. The Padres scored twice in
the top of the 1st and added single runs in the 3rd, 4th
and 8th. Yonder Alonso went 2 for 5 with an RBI and Hahn got his
first professional hit and an RBI in the 4th. Zach Wheeler brought a run home in the 1st
on a wild pitch. Wheeler went 5 allowing 6 hits, 4 runs (all earned) while
walking 4 and striking out 4. Dana Eveland added 2 scoreless innings. Gonzalez
Germen pitched a pair of innings and gave up the solo homer to Headley in the 8th.
Wheeler suffers the loss falling to
2-7. Hahn improves to 1-1. The Mets drop to 30-38 on the year and 15-20
at home. The series is now tied at 1. Sunday
afternoon is the rubber game of the series Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-0 2.95) goes for the Mets, Ian Kennedy
(5-7 3.63) goes for San Diego.

I have not been one to trash the front office until lately. How can a GM now trust his scouts who told him Abreu would not cut it in the majors. I guess that our team would not be better with a power bat at first. Duda or Davis were such a better option.
Lets hope the wilpons sell and put an end to this........
Perhaps the Chris Young experiment is nearly over.
