June 8th 2014 -- Giants 6 Mets 4

Gregor Blanco had 2 hits and 3 RBI and Zach Wheeler had his shortest outing of his career, the Giants complete a 3 game sweep of the Mets Sunday afternoon with 6-4 win.  Wheeler who has been pitching terrific of late was pulled in the 4th inning by Terry Collins trailing 4-1.  Wheeler only lasted 3 2/3 innings spanning 86 pitches. He allowed 6 hits, 4 runs (all earned) 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.  Wheeler takes the loss and falls to 2-6 on the year. Curtis Granderson had a terrific day and kept the Mets in the game.  Granderson hit a pair of homers and a double on the day and drove in 3.  He now has 8 homers on the year. Daniel Murphy continues to produce also adding 3 hits, Eric Campbell getting the start for David Wright at 3rd added 2 hits in the loss. Tim Lincecum allowed 3 runs in 6 innings and gets his 6th win for the Giants.  Serio Romo notched his 20th save.  The Mets have now lost 6 straight and now stand at 28-35 on the year and 15-18 on the road. Monday is an off day, Tuesday night the Mets limp back home in  to start a home stand against the Brewers Daisuke Matsuzaka (2-0 3.21) goes for the Mets, Marco Estrada (5-2  4.29) goes for Milwaukee.

Is it time for a "firesale"? Should we finally trade Murph , Niese/Gee and pitching prospects for bats? Furthermore we could have a top 3 pick next year and get some crazy talent.

Fire sale. Buy one, get one at half price. I personally would go for what you suggest, Michi. High draft picks are fine if a ready- or almost-ready-to-go real, young bat is not available in a reasonable trade now.

All options should be on the table. The playoffs with this team are an illusion.
