Has anybody heard anything about Wuilmer Becerra or Vicente Lupo?

I expected both to be assigned to SS-A Brooklyn but neither has moved from extended ST yet.

Hi Chris...will be interesting on both those 2 - know nothing.

Did I read correctly, herb? Matt Koch gave up 5 walks? That is about 2 years' worth for him.

Maybe Jairo Perez is forcing people to take him seriously. .360/.600 at St Lucie

On the spur of the moment, I stopped by Ft Myers Miracle game last night (was heading from Tampa down the coast to Ft Lauderdale, so only stayed a few innings - fun atmosphere while I was there, but they do a poor job there, in that the scoreboard does not list player names, stats, and the players on both teams (unfortunately St Lucie was not one of them - I was on the wrong coast) did not have names on their uniforms. Hard to connect if you have little idea who everyone is or how they are doing.

Chris - Lupo and Becerra are both on the roster of the GCL Mets. I would have thought Wuilmer would be higher up the ladder than that, but I guess he will stay in Port St. Lucie for a while.

Thomas - You read correctly. Koch had a real off night. His previous high was 2 BBs in a game, and frequently did not surrender even 1. For a guy whose running a 1.89 BB/9 this year, 5 walks was an aberration.

And yes, I am beginning to give Perez the respect he is earning. I didn't know much about him before we signed him, but he seemed to hit pretty well when he was in the Twins' organization. They gave up on him while hitting .265 in 2012, and he was forced to play Independent ball for the balance of 2012 and all of 2013. Looks like another smart signing by Sandy & Co.

Yo Herb

Another thing to like about the Jairo Man is 22 K's in 46 games. He seems like he got his strikeout immunity shots. Only 5 walks - he's never walked a lot, but I think it is likely a function of a few things: he knows he needs to show Mets brass he can HIT - walking is a waste of time in that regard for him - he's both hitting AND slugging very well - and maybe he is so much better than A pitching that he's hitting the ball before he ever has a chance to walk. Which is also very good. I looked back at his stats and he only got in 10 games in April - looks like he was hurt for 2 weeks - and he picked back up without a blip, also a good sign.

I really hope they promote him and see what he can do - I am sure the Lutz move frees up a lot of 3B at bats above him and should allow him to get to AA ASAP.
