Mets Pick - Round 3 - #84 - SS Milton Ramos - American Heritage HS

Ramos was the top shortstop left on the board. I had him at #46 overall, and 4th overall SS in the draft.

The good news here is his superior defensive skills.

There is no bad news; however, his bat does trail in development.

An excellent long range pick.

From Baseball America:  "Ramos is the premier defensive shortstop in a class that’s short on true up-the-middle profiles. He has plus speed, has drawn comparisons to Alcides Escobar and is committed to Florida International."

My guess:  Kingsport.

Ok.....well......maybe see em in about 5 years...maybe nobody else currently manning the position in the system pans out, and he's the guy.....maybe someone else does pan out, and he's their defensive backup. ...
Maybe I shut up, stop saying maybe, and wish the kid well........ LGM

It's a nice low level SS, but we have three of them in DSL ball plus 2 more coming over this year from the DSL, plus Guilloume and Rosario....

I was hoping that the SS situation would have been solved outside of the draft

That Adam Smith said...

I can't argue with stockpiling spectacular fielding young SS's, hoping to teach one of them to hit. Gold Glove SS's who can hit .260 have long careers.
