Jim Gosger's RBI double helped Mets in their 2-0 win over Phllies
Gary Gentry wrapped up the Mets shutout sweep of the Phillies, blanking Philadelphia 2-0. He needed some help though-Nolan Ryan pitched three and Ron Taylor notched his 13th save with a scoreless final frame.

All of New York’s runs were plated in the 2nd when Jim Gosger doubled home Ed Kranepool and Gentry followed two batters later with a sac fly-scoring Gosger. At 99 victories, the Mets were one away from 100 with two games remaining.
