College Baseball Daily -

Mitch Hartigan Florida Atlantic University (FL) Ft. Lauderdale Knights OFRS Junior (draft eligible 2021) 5’11/180 L/R Jupiter, FL Draft History: Undrafted:

Hartigan has been a major offensive player for the FAU Owls the last two seasons putting consistent solid numbers. In 2019 he hit .322 with 6 HR’s and 14 doubles. In 2020 he hit .308 with 5 doubles and 1 HR. Hartigan has an athletic frame and a pretty left-handed swing. He shows confidence in the box and has an approach. Defensively he has an average arm and profiles as a left fielder. Although his numbers this summer were not stellar scouts see value in his bat and swing.

In a tournament in Miami for the Jupiter High Warriors baseball team in the spring of 2017, current FAU junior outfielder Mitchell Hartigan was up to the plate.

As he awaited the pitch, the pitcher lost control of the ball and hit Hartigan square in the face. He required surgery and missed the rest of the season.

An injury that intense could make a player hesitant when coming back, but according to Jupiter High head coach Andy Mook, when faced with great adversity, Hartigan had “grit and determination.”

FAU -

2020 (Sophomore)

Was off to a great start in his second year, both in the field and on the mound

Earned the league's second Conference USA Hitter of the Week honor, on Feb. 24

Reached base at least twice in every Owls' game that week, all four FAU victories to push the team to 7-0 on the year

Hit a blistering .500 (7-for-14) with four extra bases hits – three doubles and a triple – got on base at a clip of .579, and slugged .857. He also knocked in five and scored six runs

Led the team on the season with a .308 average, 13 runs scored and five doubles, as well as with six multi-hit games

Finished second with a .433 OBP and .500 slugging; those two marks combined led to a team-high .933 OPS

Hartigan had two great seasons followed by a horrible summer showing, which really hurts his draft ranking. Remember... the summer leagues are where you play against the elite, not some scrub team in your division.

Last second rounder.
