Today’s featured Mets minor leaguer is I didn’t know much about until this season, and I still can’t find a scouting report on him.
However, his 11 home runs in 155 at-bats for St. Lucie this season makes us, at the least, make him a blue prospect on my charts.
Carlos Dominguez is a 22-yr. Old 2018 IDFA, out of the Dominican Republic. He’s 6-1, 200 and bats righty.
I don’t remember who told me this… might have been Tom or Ernest… but that person said his original ink when he was drafted was his projected power.
So, how’s that working out:
2019 - 2 DSL Teams .266 6-HR
2020 - COVID
2021 - FCL Mets 145-AB 10-HR
2022 - St. Lucie 155-AB 11-HR
Yes, the power is coming but he needs to move on to Brooklyn for the remainder of this season, both for age reasons, and to see if this power production can continue at the A+ level.

Big raw power to all fields.
Will be just 17 yrs old and 7 months on draft day.
Effortless swing - fluid with an all-fields approach.
Rocketing up the charts.
Big arm that plays well at third base.
One of the youngest players in the 2022 draft.
Additionally can run fastball up to 95.
Below average runner.
Some have him now in the Top 5 range.

Quick wrists and an attacking path to the ball. The swing is short,
Very good job taking his hands to the ball.
A bouncy middle infielder with rangy actions.
Smallish frame projects into an impact, top-of- the-lineup spark plug type of performer.

Above average runner, maybe plus.
Projected more power to come.
Played safety in 2019.
Mack’s pick - I know you shouldn’t pick by position, and I love a couple of these guys, but I’m going to dive into the huge pitching talent pool and get one of the top ones at 1.14.

Mack - The Mets can not take this guy out of the lineup while Pete and Marte are day-to-day. There is only so much reliable offense on this team and McNeil once again has become an all-star.

Mack - God, I wish this guy was ready, but he isn’t.
I would; however, send him to AAA after the AA all-star team which could create a situation that he will ready on opening day 2023… or… how about DH for the playoffs?

Palmer fanned all 4 official ABs, and 9 of 10 over last 3 games.
I wish there was a way for a guy like Dominguez to get double the at bats. You improve by repetition.
Mack, your guy Daniel Juarez impressive again. Eric Orze too, except for allowing a HR. One has 38 Ks in 23 innings, one has 37 in 23 innings.
Me? I love pitchers that can do that.
So, yesterday Tom said that de los Santos has stopped stealing and he should keep stealing. Well, last night he went 0-3 with a walk and a HBP. 4 Steals. The Mets stole 7 bases on that battery yesterday.
Carlos Dominguez is a guy I kept an eye on from DSL because he was the only decent producer on the DSL2 team. They compared him to Beltran as an all-around player that will play CF, not in talent. I wonder if these kids recognize spin well enough.
Mack, if you really feel the plus arms will go into the fourth round, then should taking two plus bats be on the table? Too, if there are only 15 plus bats, won’t the other teams attack the pitching pool too? The Mets system is so bereft of pitching that I feel they should use this draft to inject some good arms while they can. So many hitters with such impressive stats…. you need to lay eyes on them and also talk to them. Humble + listens = Good. Arrogant + Impatient = Headache
I don’t check DSL box scores every night, but a few times a week to keep up. So, i just looked at yesterday’s and the Mets two teams played the Yankees two teams. The DSL2 teams played a 7-6 game that the Mets won scoring 6 in the fourth inning (they only play seven innings). The DSL1 teams played an 11 inning 19-16 game! Wow, what a barn burner! The Mets won that one also. Each team had 13 walks, oy vey! And Simon Juan led off in CF and went 0-7 with zero walks and scored 3 runs. He is hitting .059 so far. Willie Fanas is on DSL2 and he is hitting .300.
I look at DSL as high schoolers involving themselves in a summer activity. It is just to get them playing time and kind of monitor them. However, when they stand-out, send them to Florida.

Gus, SS Jesus Baez is 4 for 9 with 2 HR, 6 RBI, 1 K in DSL. Clearly a superstar.
And Yonaton Henriquez is 9 for 18 with 7 RBIs! A household name
