IN FOCUS: Mack's #14 Mets Prospect - Douglas Orellana, Yorber Semprum, Annabelle Lee, Frankie Montas, Steve Cohen, Future Game, Corey Collins, Brandon Sproat, Yunior Amparo

We continue with my countdown of Mets prospects with…

                          #14 - RP Douglas Orellana

Douglas Orellana is a right-handed pitcher in the New York Mets organization.

Born on May 1, 2002, in Caracas, Venezuela, Orellana stands at 6’1” and weighs 196 pounds. He bats and throws right-handed.

Orellana signed with the Mets as an international free agent, though specific details about his signing date and bonus are not widely documented. His professional career began in the Mets’ minor league system, and he has progressed through various levels, including the Florida Complex League (FCL) Mets, Low-A St. Lucie Mets, and now High-A Brooklyn.

In 2025, Orellana has shown promise as a relief pitcher for Double-A Binghamton. This performance underscores his ability to limit hits and runs while maintaining a high strikeout rate.

His 2025 performance suggests he is developing into a reliable reliever with strong strikeout potential. His scouting report, as noted by Baseball America, emphasizes his right-handed pitching arsenal, though specific pitch types (e.g., fastball velocity, secondary pitches) are not detailed in the sources.

From BA, giving some love to a Mets prospect very few people have heard about …

Jim Koenigsberger                                  @Jimfrombaseball

Only player to throw a perfect game in 12 year history of the AAGPBL, hurled a no-hitter the next season. Annabelle Lee passed on her pitching knowledge to a nephew, gave him his first left-handed glove, and became one of the biggest influences in his life.

He grew up to become a lefty junkballer just like his Aunt Annabelle.

Better known as Bill “Spaceman” Lee

Considering they spent nearly all of their IFA money on Peña (and thank goodness he started hitting) I’m pleasantly surprised that the DSL Mets system seems to have two or three other exciting bats. Guys who hit .400+ down there tend to come stateside quick.
