The New York Mets have traded RP Huascar Brazoban to the Chicago White Sox for AAA RHP Zach Franklin and AA RHP Gabe Davis.
Franklin is 27/years old and has pitched entirely this season for AAA-Charlotte, going 2-2, 4.37, 1.12, in 33-games, one start. He has pitched 45.1 innings, produced only 14-BB but struck out an impressive 60 batters. Throws a mid-90s fastball.
Davis is 22/year old and has had 18 starts for the White Sox combined A+/AA minor league teams. Combined stat line is: 0-5, 5.81, 1.50, 62.0-IP, 24-BB, 70-K.

Isn’t Davis the one that throws 100? I wouldn’t have done this as you are trading a three year controlled known factor for unknown factors. As I wrote to Jules in Paul’s post, only if they change the rules regarding older arbitration eligible players is this worth it.
In the abstract a fine exchange as the Mets are trying to get as many AA andAAA SP as possible as they really only had two of their own who are credible major leaguers in Santucci and Tong. They also anticipate contending next year and this means they will likely be buyers at next year's deadline and loading up on this level of pitching is always helpful in making trades.

Davis is an out of control speedballer. I wonder why the Mets think they can correct guys like this when they can't ever correct the starters they have.
Franklin is the real deal and could wind up the next Mets closer
Isn't everyone the "one that throws 100"? You have to use pitch placement and mix of off-speed for velocity to be effective. A 5.81 ERA in the minors is not an indication that Davis can do that.

I know that relievers are considered volatile commodities, but I really wanted to see Brazoban remain with the Mets. He was not a pending FA and he has become more consistent with each year on the team.
This trade makes no sense. The Mets will need to replace Brazoban and where are they going to find at reliever with his years of control and quality for what a million or so.
Making a trade for the sake of making it doesn't make sense unless the return warrants it. This is what I meant when I said on a another posts that it is better to get less quantity but more quality in the return.
Stearns is showing us once again that he has no clue, no plan going forward.
What do the Mets have that is good right now?
An established outfield of Soto, Ewing, Benge and a good BP.
What do they need? 1B with power, 2B better than Semien and possibly a 3B if Bichette opts out which is unlikely.
Do the Mets want to add a BP that list? Do they really want to trade Alvarez and replace him with what?.
Don't trade your strength unless the return is just too good to turn down.
Forgot about the pitching, Holmes is important to keep, not trade.
Is Davis the next Dylan Ross? No.
In this, his first pro year, already aggressively pushed to AA, he has walked just 24 in 62 innings. His struggles this year are in AA, and he is 22 and in his first pro year. He was fine debuting in High A earlier this year. Give him time.
The other guy has given up too many HRs in AAA this year. He is an apparent long shot to me. Always need a guy to call up and throw 2 innings.
I liked Brazoban greatly. He will be missed.

Franklin 11 HRs allowed in 45 AAA innings this year. Aberration, or who he is?
Brazoban 19 MLB homers in 258 innings, which is superb.
I don’t mind trading the rentals for whatever you can get. Trading Weaver, Holmes and now Brabazon indicates Mets don’t think they’ll be competitive in ‘27. If that’s the case the offseason is the time to trade Lindor
