2013 Draft-Notes - Zack Borsa, Trey Masek, Robert Kaminsky, Jonah Wesley

Zack Borsa, LHP/OF, McDowell HS (PA), Class of 2013 - 6-foot-1, 170-pound prospect. Registered a 7.09 60-yard dash. In the outfield, he shows athletic actions. Reaches a top velocity of 83 mph with long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. At the plate, the left-handed hitter starts with an open stance. Tends to bar his arm in his load. Takes a flat path to the ball. He is a contact/line drive type hitter. On the mound, he uses quick arm speed through a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball sits 78-81 mph. Shows good command of a 65 mph curveball. Shows late 1/7 break with good depth. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed, but lacks consistent command at 63-66 mph. http://www.prepbaseballreport.com/news/OH/Player-Analysis-from-Ohio-Top-Prospect-Showcase-on-717-8621950347#.UBVav60DlGI.twitter

Trey Masek, RHP, Falmouth Commodores (Texas Tech) – RH with a high leg kick and a pause over the rubber. Slightly undersized at 6’1″. FB 90-93 early… mostly straight but worked the bottom of the zone well.  High 3/4 and all his pitches are north-south. Shook off his catcher a lot. Also mixes in a CB and SL of varying effectiveness, cutter and a CU that was very promising in flashes. http://bullpenbanter.com/cape-cod-league-observations-week-6/

There are still two days to go, but it’s hard to imagine that anyone will have a better showing here than LHP Robert Kaminsky. The southpaw from New Jersey (St. Joe’s) threw three outstanding innings, hitless innings to be precise. While this Draft class may not have any of those huge power arms that blow you away, there’s no question Kaminsky knows how to pitch - http://minors.mlblogs.com/2012/08/03/day-2-at-the-east-coast-pro-showcase/

Jonah Wesely - Alright everyone, I'm leaving tomorrow to So Cal for the rest of the summer. Im gunna pitch in the Area Code Games and represent the Oakland A's in Long beach on the 5th. After that I'm heading to San Diego for the All American Festivities and then on the 12th I'll be pitching in the PG High school baseball All American Game on National Tv. I have never been this nervous in my life and ive been dreaming about this since freshman year. I'll be back the 3rd day of school! Thanks everyone for the support!

USC LHP Stephen Tarpley transferred to Scottsdale CC

Connor Glassey -  Impressive first inning for KY LHP Hunter Green. Struck out the side. 86-88, quiet delivery, lots of strikes, 74-76 CB…

David Rawnsley - RHP Robert Tyler is really good....92-94 in first, nice CH, ball jumps on hitters fast… 1B Pete Alonso with 2B off 405' sign in CF, has raised his draft stock plenty this summer with his power against good pitching… Florida commit - best stuff I've seen from LHP Sean Brady this summer, 90 FB/77 CB/81 Chg, pitched to spots, easy inning…

Sam Donko, RHP, Youngstown Ursuline HS, Class of 2013 - 6-foot-1, 230-pound right-handed pitching prospect. Big, solid build with strong lower half. Shows short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Delivery requires some effort. Control should improve as he cleans up some balance issues. Fastball fluctuates between 84-88 mph, sitting at 86 mph most of the time. Shows good command of several off-speed pitches. Curveball sits 70-72 mph with late 11/5 break. Also uses a sharp slider that sits 71-72 mph. Changeup sits between 76-79 mph. It is thrown near fastball arm speed and shows some sink.  - http://www.prepbaseballreport.com/news/OH/Player-Analysis-from-Ohio-Top-Prospect-Showcase-on-717-8621950347#.UBVav60DlGI.twitter

Jake Ring, a LHH OF from Grant HS, commits to Missouri.

Elon RHP David Whitehead is an emerging prospect: 89-92, bumped 93, flashed solid 3/4 breaking ball. Escaped bases-loaded jam with 4-6-3 DP

Very impressed w/TxTech's Trey Masek, a 6-foot RHP whp hides ball well. Needed just 8 pitches to get 3 grounders in 4th. 93-94 w/ 80-81 SL

Razorbacks fireballer Colby Suggs works 8-pitch, 1-2-3 8th, ending with K of Andrew Knapp on 94 heat. Suggs pounded 94 with 82-83 hammer CV
