LAST GAME:
For the second time at Hadlock Field, the Portland
Sea Dogs came back to win in the ninth inning. On April
28, Binghamton allowed Portland to score three runs in the
ninth to win 9-8 in Roy Merritt’s first blown save. Well, Merritt
blew his third of the year yesterday when he came into a
bases-loaded one-out situation that Julio De La Cruz left him.
Merritt gave up a two-run single to Lars Anderson to tie it and
then with two outs, Ryan Kalish lined a single into the right
field corner to bring home the winning run. It spoiled another
strong outing from Ryan Coultas, who threw six innings allowing
two runs on nine hits. De La Cruz was charged with all
three runs and the loss, his second of the year. Emmanuel
Garcia output his first four-hit game of the season, going 4-5
with a double and two RBIs and Josh Thole pounded out a 2-5
evening with a double and a triple to score two as well.

94 innings. He was the Mets’ 18th-round choice in 2005
out of Wingate University (NC).

as a 49er.
