SP Eric Brown tossed Thursday’s game. Brown is off to a disappointing start this season (3-4, 5.73 going into the June 11 game), and has started only two of his 15 appearances so far this year. He’s once again being used as a fill-in starter until the Mets decide what to do with him. The kids behind him keep growing and Brown, like his teammate Jose Sanchez, are both in jeopardy of losing their jobs.
Okay… did I say enough bad things about Eric Brown?
Well, all he did was go out and throw seven no-hit innings against Portland.
The game was tied, 1-1, going into the 8th inning, when OF Jose Coronado signled with one out. Coronado advanced to second on a wild pitch, which was followed by a Ruben Tejada walk. Nick Evans then singled in Coronado to go up 2-1.
The Mets replaced Brown after seven innings and hats off to him.
