7/22/10

Rochester 9, Buffalo 2

from press release:

Pat Misch failed in his second attempt at the elusive double-digit win as the Red Wings defeated the Herd, 9-2, on Wednesday night from Coca-Cola Field. The loss snapped the Bisons five-game win streak.
Buffalo has a pair of nine-game winners on their staff with Misch (9-3) and righty Dillon Gee (9-5). With Gee's next start on Friday night in Toledo, the southpaw had the chance to be the Bisons' first 10-game winner since Jeremy Guthrie went 12-10 during the 2005 campaign.

However, the Red Wings hit the Bisons' All-Star hard for seven runs on 10 hits -including home runs from Brendan Harris and Trevor Plouffe. The Wings scored three runs in second inning as the first four batters of the frame collected hits. D'Angelo Jimenez drove home two with a bloop triple down the right field line.

Harris' two-run homer in the third inning gave Rochester a 5-0 lead. Plouffe led off the fourth with his 14th home run of the season and fourth in 10 games against the Bisons. Misch had won four straight decisions for the Bisons. His last loss came over a month ago, June 17 against Indianapolis. The Bisons bats were silenced by Wings starter Glen Perkins. The Rochester starter worked seven innings for his third straight win.

Andy Green went 3-4 for Buffalo and scored both runs. He doubled in front of Ruben Tejada's wall-ball double in the third. Green doubled again in the seventh and scored on a Rochester fielding error.
