The Brooklyn Cyclones (36-18) took the final game of the three-game series by defeating the Auburn Doubledays (21-32) by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday night. Brooklyn's win maintains their eight-game lead over Hudson Valley in the McNamara Division, and lowers the team's Magic Number to 16 with 22 games to go. Brooklyn scored all five of their runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by a deep solo shot off the bat of 3B Joe Bonfe on the first pitch he saw. 2B J.B. Brown contributed with an RBI triple and then scored on a groundout to the shortstop. 1B Jeff Flagg drove a groundball single through the infield to plate the final two runs of the inning. RHP A.J. Pinera struck out a career-high 10 batters in only six innings, allowing just one unearned run on six hits. Pinera earned his second win this season and has a 1.54 ERA since being converted to a starter on July 12th. Southpaw Adam Kolarek worked three innings to earn his first save, allowing one run on four hits.
