Cutnpaste: Ryan Church, Chris Sale, Mike Pelfrey, Lucas Duda... and Pat Misch

Ryan Church:

The Diamondbacks allowed Church, who has a 2-year-old son and a 10-month-old daughter with his wife in Pittsburgh, three days to arrange his family’s moving plans. Church, 31, was not in the lineup for Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Nationals, with Rusty Ryal manning left field instead. Manager Kirk Gibson said he has yet to decide on a role for the veteran outfielder.

Chris Sale:

link  - The White Sox will promote 2010 first-round pick Chris Sale to the majors on Wednesday. When he makes his debut roughly two months after he was drafted 13th overall, he'll have sped to the big leagues quicker than any draftee since 2003 Reds first-rounder Ryan Wagner. Wagner made his first appearance for Cincinnati on July 19, 2003. Sale was the first or second college pitcher on most clubs' draft boards, but he slid until the 13th pick because of questions about his signability. Chicago owner Jerry Reinsdorf takes pride in rarely having his club exceed MLB's bonus recommendations, and Sale opted to sign quickly for slot money ($1.656 million) in return for getting a chance to join the big league bullpen this season. The White Sox are expected to develop the lefthander as a starter next year.

Mike Pelfrey:

link  - Jerry Manuel said he would speak to Mike Pelfrey Tuesday in what he called a "prodding," reminding the pitcher that his team's season is at stake, and Wednesday's start in the series finale against Atlanta is of utmost importance. "He is a good pitcher," Manuel said. "He is a good young man, too, (and) he is a competitor." Still, the manager has noted several times lately that if the Mets hope to become relevant again this season, Pelfrey needs to find what he lost toward the end of the first half.

Lucas Duda:

8-3-10: - link  - AAA Buffalo Bisons, Position Player of the Month: Outfielder, Lucas Duda - Just like last month, Duda has proven to make an outstanding adjustment to AAA pitching, and has continued his hard hitting. In 26 games in July for Buffalo, Duda amassed 31 hits while posting a .313 batting average. He crushed nine home runs and drove in 25 runs. He's looking like a reliable middle-of-the-order type hitter who has plenty of pop and can drive in runners regularly. Again, his plate discipline will need some work, but he continues to be shooting in the right direction.

Pat Misch:

link  - Pitcher of the Month: Left-handed pitcher, Pat Misch - Misch also repeats as pitcher of the month for the Bisons, putting up stronger numbers in July than June. In six July starts, Misch went 3-1 with a 2.74 ERA and 35 strikeouts. The command is there. He walked just six during the month and appeared in the AAA All-Star Game. If the Mets are ever in need of another reliable southpaw arm on the big league club, Misch will no doubt be the next name on the call-up list.
