Series Preview - The Savannah Sand Gnats begin a five-game series against the Kannapolis Intimidators, the SAL affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, and a nine-game home stand that concludes with a visit from the Gnats’ division rival Augusta GreenJackets. The first half champion Gnats enter the homestand on a four-game winning streak over which time the team has hit .342 (50 H/146 AB) with nine doubles and a home run. Savannah had two winning streaks of five games in the first half, one in May and one in June. The Intimidators head to Savannah fresh off a 6-2 homestand against the Greensboro Grasshoppers and the Hagerstown Suns.
Savannah is 5-3 against Kannapolis this year. Four of the eight games the two teams have played have gone to extra innings, with the Gnats winning all four. This year at home, the Gnats are a perfect 6-0 at home in extra-inning games and 3-8 on the road.
