8/13/10
Kannapolis 2, Savannah 0
Ryan Buch pitched six scoreless, followed by three strong in relief as the Kannapolis Intimidators record their tenth shutout of the season and win on a first run double by the score of 2-0 against the Savannah Sand Gnats at Grayson Stadium on Thursday. In the first inning against Armando Rodriguez, Ian Gac hit a double to dead center, scoring both Tyler Saladino and Nick Ciolli to give the Intimidators (22-23) a 2-0 lead, a lead they would hold on to for the remaining nine innings. Buch (4-0) allowed just four hits over six strong innings where he did not walk a batter and he struck out five as, for the second time in his six starts, the Intimidators achieve a shutout. Ryan Kussmual worked to six batters over two innings and recorded five strikeouts for a hold and Orlando Santos got his 12th save in as many opportunities as he allowed two runners to reach in the ninth before he finished the game with two strikeouts. The Intimidators had nine hits total and went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The Sand Gnats (19-27) had their chances and went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position, including having a runner cut down at the plate in the first.
