Here are some quick blurbs on other players the Mets have
been tied to in mocks.
** I would love it
if the Mets drafted Lance McCullers. If he is on the board and other options
are gone (Hawkins, Almora, Fried), this should be the guy. Mets went off-grid
for Nimmo last year which means they might again. He would not be the expected
pick but has the stuff to be the best pitcher out of this draft.
***Other players I think the Mets should look at (or are)
because of their talent and what they would add to the system:
Tyler Naquin Round
1-s. Athletic college outfielder.
JaMarcus McGruder 3-4. Small defensive wizard at second base who finished the year
top-10 in collegiate batting average.
Patrick Kivlehan 4-5.
Rutgers shortstop who focused full-time on
baseball this year and it paid off. Could wait to get this local college
product who is older than you normally see for a college draftee, but would be
worth the look.
Wyatt Mathisen 1?
2? I would take him early—one of the better catching prospects available.
Rock Rucker 2-3.
Would draft him as a power lefty but his bat is pretty darn good too.
Raph Rhymes 5-6.
Led division I in batting…for some reason is not projected to be drafted
anywhere near the top of the draft or even the first few rounds.
Richie Martin 4-5.
Small, athletic, speedster who should stick at shortstop at the next level.
Good glove, great athlete.
Cole Irvin- 2. Rising southpaw from California. Pitched well late in season and has impressed scouts with his improvement. Good size and potential.
