Thursday night's game at Huntington Park in Columbus came with an old fashioned pitching duel.
But the starters weren't the only one part of the duel; the both of the team's bullpens were involved as well. In the end, the Herd won the battle 3-2.
Bisons starter Garrett Olson pitched five quality innings for the win. The lefty's final line was two runs, one earned, on eight hits, striking out three.
Clippers starter Corey Kluber had an equal amount of effort even allowing eleven hits from the Herd. The righty went on to give up three runs, one earned and strikes out five.
The bullpen for Buffalo was incredibly dominating in relief of Olson and to make sure their team held the held the one-run lead and win. Manny Acosta, Josh Edgin, and Fernando Cabrera combined to pitch four scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and striking out seven.
Cabrera recorded his 13th save of the season in the Herd win.
The Bisons scored their first two runs at the beginning of the game on run-scoring singles by Val Pascucci and Raul Reyes.
The teams tacked on another run in the sixth and as well solidify their lead, courtesy of Corey Wimberly RBI single.
Wimberly, Reyes, Kazmar and Martin all had multi-hit nights.
BISONS NOTES: Fernando Cabrera's 13th save of the season Thursday night makes him the IL leader in front of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre closer Kevin Whelan, who has 12....Matt Harvey and Val Pascucci lead all-star voting in their respective positions...Matt Tuiasosopo and Fernando Cabrera are in position to be voted to the all-star game...first baseman Josh Satin was designated for assignment by the Mets Thursday.
