Sunday Game Notes –
Zack Wheeler – three good
innings…three hits, one run, three strike outs… his 0.00 spring ERA is intact
and he moves closer to the SP1 spot.
It was nice to
see the Mets have three hits in the same
inning (Granderson, Clark, Allen). Let the first base battle begin!
Kyle Farnsworth had two scoreless innings, followed by one more from Jose Valverde… but it was Josh Edgin the screwed the
pooch, giving up the tying run in the seventh.
I
guess I should be excited about the seven runs the Mets scored in the 8th
inning, but, once again, all the hitting was done by the AAA/AA players,
against the AAA/AA opponent pitchers. Take away the scrub runs this spring and
the stats are dismal.
The last piece of good news, though, is the fact that Bobby Parnell successfully threw
his first scoreless inning.

Collins talking up the vet Farnsworth, saying he is amping up his velocity. Guess he better bring in an extra amp.
Lagares shows that his laser is still operational, cutting guy down at 3rd by about 400 feet. I am pulling for him. Listening to Juan get interviewed, one word to future major league Hispanic hopefuls - working on conversant English is also important, to help one's ability to market oneself through the media. A lot of this game is about marketing yourself.
Plawecki's double screamed "future major league star." It looked Wright-like being ripped down the line.
I understand TC's comments on Lagares. He has to make it sound like he has faith in both Juan and EYJ... the battle will be won in the spring an it seems like to me that Grandy will play every day while the accounting firm of Young, Young, and Lagares will split time throughout the year
