LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets pounded out 11 hits and capped a 6-1 homestand with a 7-2 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Thursday morning at NYSEG Stadium. Brian Burgamy ripped a two-run homer in a three-hit game to push Binghamton to the series win. Hansel Robles allowed one run over a season-best 6.2 innings to earn his third win. Matt Clark, Travis Taijeron, and Darrell Ceciliani all contributed with RBI doubles. Binghamton tagged New Hampshire starter Aaron Sanchez for six runs on nine hits in his fourth defeat.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: LHP Angel Cuan takes the mound for the third time this season and second time against the Rock Cats. The southpaw allowed seven hits over five innings, but surrendered just one run against New Britain in his most recent start on Sunday, May 25. He struck out four and walked one to earn his first career Double-A victory. The Panama native was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Mets in September 2007.
NEW BRITAIN STARTER: RHP Sean Gilmartin makes his tenth start of the season and second straight against the B-Mets. The California native allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings in a loss to Binghamton on Sunday, May 25. He struck out five and walked two, snapping his five-game unbeaten streak. Gilmartin spent the first three years of his career in the Braves organization before getting traded to the Twins in exchange forRyan Doumit in December 2013.
IF I CAN “MAY”KE IT THERE...: B-Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki has steered the ship against Eastern League pitching in the month of May. The Indiana native has batted .389 with ten doubles, five home runs, 27 RBI and 13 multiple-hit games. Over 24 games, he’s compiled a .653 slugging percentage and hit safely in all but three contests. He drove in a career-high five runs on Wednesday.
A BIT STREAKY: The Binghamton Mets have fallen into a handful of streaks in the month of May. After winning their first two games in May, the team hit a four-game losing streak,. They bounced back with 10 wins in their next 12 games, including a six-game winning streak. That stretch led to a five-game losing streak followed immediately by six victories in their last seven games.
HELLO AGAIN!: The B-Mets and Rock Cats match up for the second of three straight weekend series between the Double-A Mets and Double-A Twins. Binghamton took all four games against the Rock Cats at NYSEG Stadium over Memorial Day Weekend. Angel Cuan and Sean Gilmartin match up for the second time in six days.
WELCOME BACK: After missing nine games with a right hamstring strain, Brian Burgamy delivered a three-hit game on Thursday, his second game since returning from the disabled list. His two-run homer was his fifth against the Fisher Cats this year.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN: After spending 30 of their first 52 games at NYSEG Stadium, the B-Mets embark on a stretch of 11 road games in their next 14 contest. Binghamton is 10-12 away from home in 2014.
NEW BRITAIN STADIUM: The B-Mets make their first of two visits to New Britain this season. Binghamton went 5-3 on the road against the Rock Cats last season.
BOSSES IN THE BULLPEN: Excluding Tyler Pill”s relief appearance Wednesday, the B-Mets bullpen has compiled a 2.53 ERA in the last 21 games. During that span, they’ve struck out 69 and walked only 19 over 65.0 innings.
