Kevin Plawecki rising fast through New York Mets farm system
Dicky Scott, the Mets Director of Player Development, has been impressed by Plawecki, and thinks there is more to come. Scott played in the Yankees minor league system alongside Don Mattingly, and Scott reminded me that Mattingly hit no more than 10 homers during any season in the minors, then 20 or more home runs five times.
“I’m not saying Kevin is going to hit 45, but power is always the last thing to develop,” Scott said. “I think because he makes such solid contact, you always like those doubles hitters. ... They’re driving the ball, and then they kind of get their whole swing put together as they get closer to the major leagues. I think Kevin is going to be one of those guys. He’s just got a great approach.”

Maybe if the power develops another Joe Torre?
Thomas, there seems to be a lot of concern lately about Plawecki's 'limited' defensive. I never saw anything wrong with his game when he was in Savannah, but that was the first year I stopped attending regularly so I really can't comment directly on it.
