Juan Lagares to the 15 Day DL, Matt den Dekker recalled from Airport

CF Juan Lagares has been diagnosed with an intercostal strain. The team has placed him on the 15 Day Disabled List and have re-called CF Matt den Dekker as the corresponding move. den Dekker will be in uniform for tonight's game @ the Phillies since he was still at the Philadelphia airport en route to Las Vegas when Lagares re-injured himself.

(Man....Lagares has been unlucky this season when it comes to the injury bug. So far this season Lagares has been worth 2.6 Wins above replacement which is tied for 5th in the National League with the likes of Yasiel Puig.)

Macho men spend more time on the DL than prudent ones....and muscle injuries need a few extra days to heal as a rule,,,or guys can be out a lot longer.

My first thought when I heard about his tweak on Friday is "don't rush back, dude." Three steps forward and 2 back with this team.

With Lagares and EYJ out. Who leads off?

I'd put my best hitter to date there and then protect one of my promising young bats in between him and David Wright.

2B Murphy
C d'Arnaud
3B Wright
LF Granderson
CF Young
1B Duda
RF Abreu
SS Tejada
Pitcher

Ohh Great. Now den Dekker will spend another 2 weeks riding the pine while the slugger Chris Young plays so that the Mets can take advantage of his great sub 200 batting average. But hey, at least Collins love child Erik Young is almost back.

And perhaps in a reaction to his boneheaded 8th inning play, Tejada takes a seat and -- what is that other guy's name who sits and sits and sits -- Flo, something is playing SS.

Dekker missed a huge opportunity when he broke his wrist last year. How much he'll play, who knows, but let's hope for a breakthrough. Same advice as Duda...he strikes out too much, so don't have him working the pitcher and taking called strikes. Be aggressive on strikes.
