Jonathon Lucroy hit a 2 run homer (5) in the top of the 13th
inning breaking 1 all tie and igniting a 4 run inning. The Brewers beat the
Mets 5-1. The game was a pitcher’s duel between Jonathon Niese and Kyle Lohse
for the first 8 innings. The Brewers took the 1-0 in the 2nd on a
solo homer (7) by Aramas Ramirez. The Mets tied the game in the 4th
on a sac-fly by Bobby Abreu. That’s the way it stayed till the 13th.
In the bottom of the 11th the Mets loaded the bases with 1 out and
failed to score. Anthony Recker was struck out looking with 2 outs and was thrown out of the game by home plate umpire Angel Hernandez for arguing the 3rd
strike. Niese pitched brilliantly once again. Going 7 2/3 allowing 6 hits 1 run
(earned) 1 walk and 8 strikeouts. He gets the no decision once again. Jeurrys
Familia, Josh Edgin, Jenrry Mejia , Gonzalez Germen and Carlos Torres combined
for 4 1/3 scoreless innings. Torres
pitched out of a 1 out 2nd and 3rd jam striking out Scooter Gennet
and Rickie Weeks back to back to end the top of the 12th. In the 13th
Torres melted down allowing 7 hits and the 4 runs and takes the loss falling to
2-4. Mejia nailed the last 2 outs of the 10th and went to start the
11th but left the game with back stiffness. Dana Eveland mopped up and hit Rickie Weeks
with a pitch with the bases loaded to bring the last run. Zach Duke gets the
win he improves to 4-0. The Mets drop 2 of 3 to the Brewers. With the loss the
Mets are now 29-37 on the year and 14-19 at home. Friday night the Mets start a
three game weekend series with the Padres. Bartolo Colon (5-5 4.31) goes for
the Mets, Andrew Cashner (2-5 2.13) goes
for San Diego
