Source: #Mets sign 13th-rounder Erik Manoah Jr. for a $300K bonus.
UPDATE - Manoah has signed with the Mets. I heard from him last night and asked him what it was like when he heard his name called out:
"Well, I was in the middle of a game and I just hit a double as my teammate screamed to me from the dugout and told me I had a phone call I called timeout and ran to the dugout moments later hearing I was picked by the Mets! I am actually signing today and I will report to Port St. Lucie on Wednsday!"
RHP - 6-2, 215 - 12-22-95
From Perfect Game - Broad shouldered build, long arms, good present strength. Long, loose whippy arm
action, 3/4's arm slot, fast arm, athletic delivery with some energy to it, uses
front side and lower half well. Fastball to 94 mph, mostly low 90's, tends to
loose a couple mph from the stretch, mostly straight with some hop when he
elevates above the hands. Mid 70's curveball shows hard spin and big depth at
times, developing consistency on release. Nice change up with good arm speed and
late tumbling action. Big potential as a three-pitch power right hander with
more consistent mechanics. Verbal commitment to Florida International.
Baseball America Scouting Report - Manoah was the ace of a South Dade team that won the program's first Florida
state title. He was used heavily down the stretch, throwing 24 innings in the
playoffs, including the final four outs of the state title game a day after
throwing more than 115 pitches in a complete-game effort. Manoah, who threw
89-92 mph in the fall, pitched primarily at 87-90 this spring, touching 92 with
downhill plane and armside run. Although he has a quick arm and the ball jumps
out of his hand, he used a slower delivery this year. His curveball flashed plus
potential in the fall but played at fringe-average this spring. His changeup
usage lags behind his curveball but flashes average potential. He is a natural
strike-thrower who has the potential for at least average control. Manoah has a
strong pitcher's body at 6-foot-1, 210 pounds with long arms, a short torso and
developed lower half. A team buying him out of his Florida International
commitment is hoping his velocity and plus curveball return to match his
advanced pitchability
BA ranks him #330.

Great, another higher ceiling arm, maybe a great get for the pen
looks like an excellent pick
I like what I am reading on him. Only 18 too. Great pick for that round
Love this pick too. Adding another young arm to help add depth to the system. Even though he does not have the front line ceiling of higher round picks, I think this was a nice, young arm to grab and develop.
