Big time over slot (I assume) pick by the Mets
6-5, 220
Baseball America ranked him 80th...
MLB ranked him 89th... One of the top run producers on the U.S. national team that took the gold medal at the 18-and-under World Cup in Taiwan in September, McKinney drove in what proved to be the winning run in the championship game against Japan. Though he'll play both ways as a first baseman and a pitcher should he attend Arkansas, he'll almost certainly focus on the mound when he turns pro.
McKinney has a physical, athletic frame that already produces 90-93 mph fastballs. He has advanced feel for pitching, showing the ability to achieve run and sink on his heater as well as owning one of the top changeups in his high school class. He delivers his low-80s changeup with deceptive arm speed and nice fade.
McKinney's breaking ball lags behind his other two offerings yet still shows some promise. He'll show a curveball at times and a slider at others, and his breaker should have more consistent power and depth once he gets more comfortable with it.

@TommyBirch: McKinney said this doesn't change anything. Still plans to finish
the season and head to college. #mets

Any chance he signs? I know that Keith Law said that they should have some money left over to make a run at him.
At the risk of sounding sarcastic, McKinney has gone out of his way on the Net to say he's going to college unless he's paid 'seven' figures. He even mocked the pick by the Mets.
That being said, money talks.
It looks like the Mets drafted a lot of players early they can under slot... let's wait this out. There's always a chance.
Here is to hoping that the Mets can make the numbers talk and give this guy an "offer he can't refuse."
