Thursday night at Citi Field ex-Met Aaron Harang had the
Mets under control for 7 strong innings, the Mets drop the final game of their
4 game set with the Braves 3-1. Bartolo
Colon didn’t have his best stuff. The Braves jumped out to a 2-0 in the top of
first on a RBI double by Freddie Freeman and an RBI single by Jason
Heyward. In the third, the final Braves
run came in when Colon induced B.J. Upton to ground into a double play. Colon
allowed 8 hits in 4 innings but recovered to go 8 innings. The Mets scored their only run off Harang in
the bottom of the third on an RBI single by David Wright bringing home Eric
Young Jr. Colon went the 8 innings
allowing 10 hits all 3 runs (earned) he walked none and struck out 7. Carlos Torres pitched the 9th
inning. Colon gets the loss falling to 8-8, Harang allowed the 1 run in 7
innings and gets the win he’s now 9-6. Craig Kimbrel notched the last 4 outs
for his 28th save. The Mets take
3 of 4 from the Braves as their 4 game winning streak goes by the boards. The
Mets now stand at 42-50 overall and 22-23 at home. Next up the Mets host the Marlins for the
last three games before the all-star break. Friday night Zach Wheeler (4-8
4.07) goes for the Mets. Henderson Alvarez (6-3
2.27) goes for the Marlins.
