DOWN UNDER: Mets Minor League Results - 8-13-15

STAR OF THE DAY: Darrell Ceciliani, Eudor Garcia

HONORABLE MENTION: Messrs. Mora, Becerra, Rodriguez and Biondi, and Kevin Canelon

 SCORES:

Las Vegas (66-52) 4 - El Paso 3, 8th inning, in progress

Binghamton (64-52) 5 - Altoona 4

St Lucie (59-56)  - Jupiter. SUSPENDED AFTER ONE INNING

Savannah (67-48) 9 - Rome 4

Brooklyn  (25-27) 0 - State College 2

Kingsport (26-23) 8 - Johnson City 2

GCL Mets (25-21) 0 - Cardinals 2

Now Here's the Scoop:

Las Vegas sent Logan Verrett to the hill after Tim Stauffer's superb outing. Verrett allowed 3 runs in 4 innings, striking out 7. Dario Alvarez pitched 1.1 scoreless, striking out 3. Darrell Ceciliani had 4 hits, including a homer and 3 RBIs (all the way up to .352). Update thru mid 8th, game still in progress.

Binghamton's Rainy Lara started and he was great for 7 innings, except for 2 solo homers. Paul Sewald saved the win for Lara (6-4) with a perfect 4 out save (19).  LJ Mazzilli had a big 2 run single in the 8th for the ultimate margin of victory.  Cecchini had 2 more hits.

St Lucie's Mickey Jannis looked to get St Lucie back in the winner's circle. David Wright started at 3B and batted 3rd. But the weather hit and just one inning was played.

Savannah has played 59-32 ball in the Gnats' last 91 games. Casey Delgado, 6-3 coming in, took the ball. He pitched solidly, but the Gnats' Ben Griset got the win in relief.  Eudor Garcia had 4 hits, and Becerra, Mora, Biondi, and Jean Rodriguez each got on base 3 times.

Brooklyn seeks a late season playoff surge, sitting at a game under .500 coming in. Kevin Canelon took the start for the Cyclones. He was terrific (7IP, 2 R, 11 K), but lost because the Cyclone bats failed to produce a single run.

Kingsport's Merandy Gonzalez hurled for the K Mets tonight. And Harol Gonzalez relieved. Both surrendered a run, and the K Mets scored 8, half of which were unearned.

GCL Mets ran into a hot pitcher named Oca (8-2, 1.55).  A 3 hit shutout loss resulted.

 GOAT: CYCLONE'S sub-par offense.

Vegas actually lost as Zach Thornton had his first bad relief outing in a while, allowing an inherited runner to score in the 8th to tie, and allowed the walk off run. For El Paso in the 9th.
