Tom Brennan - IT IS NOT 2018 ANY MORE IN METSVILLE

😛
THE METS WIN!  THE METS WIN!  THE METS WIN!

An abundance of great signs in Metsville today...

Sure, Brandon Nimmo seems to have forgotten that the idea of hitting in baseball is to actually HIT the baseball once in a while...

But redemption for a player can come any day.

Just ask J.D. Davis, who had been scuffling before his 2 homers and a single today.  We were speculating that he did not have it - his bat screamed, "Hey, not so fast..." today.  He may be here for a LONG time.

And 3 more homers, one from tremendously, mighty, extremely strong Pete Alonso, well over the CF fence, and dingers from Michael Conforto and a game tying super deep blast from Robbie Cano in the 8th.

Yes, for those of you counting, that adds up to FIVE homers for the Mets.

Then, picture back to prior years - a one run 9th inning lead - how often games got blown.

But now - we have Edwin Diaz.

Diaz, in games the Mariners led when he closed out the games in 2018, were SIXTY SIX AND OH.

The man nicknamed Sugar got the save in the 9th, one, two, three, mighty quick, made it look easy, oh, so easy.  He looks so cool, calm, and collected out there.

Then, there is Keon Broxton, who really seems to be taking that "make contact" thing to heart.  He stayed back on a curve ball and lined it into right center.  He looks like a guy who has taken a big step towards matching his high level of athleticism with a successful plate approach.  And a great, delightful personality, to boot.

Steve Matz went over 100 pitches, limiting him to 5 innings, but 5 shutout innings and 8 Ks is a solid outing indeed against the Bats.

Tomorrow, one of our aces, Zach Wheeler, looks to make this a series win (2 of 3) against Mighty Mad Max.

Let's keep it going on Sunday, fellas.  7-2 would sure sound nice.

Tom, sounds great! Until the part about the sweep. They won the first game on Thursday.

Winning 2 of 3 against the Nets feels like a sweep, Texas Gus, but thanks for pointing out my brain fart - I will fix it :)
