THESE GUYS ARE THE TOPS!
Last fall, I ran a series covering my Top 50 Mets prospects.
Limiting that to my Top 30, how the heck are they doing?
1. 1B
Peter Alonso - some prognosticators chose Andres Gimenez as their top Mets prospect going into 2019. I went instead with Poundin' Pete, who is making his mark big time in Queens. Huge, in fact. Colossal. I refuse to gloat, although I should.

2. IF Andres Gimenez - stuck in AA due to the Veterans reunion going on in Syracuse. A cold 1 for 14 start...I imagine he will do better once he can feel his fingers.
3. LHSP
David Peterson - the big fella's AA debut went nicely...3.1 one run innings, 5 Ks.
4. IF
Ronnie Mauricio - 8 singles in 24 at bats, 0 for 2 in steals...just turned 18.
5. LHSP
Anthony Kay - nice AA debut! 4.1 IP, no earned runs or walks, 4 Ks.
6. IF Mark Vientos - just 3 for 18, but his 5 walks gives him an early .360 OBP.

7. LHSP Tom Szapucki - one scoreless inning, 1 walk, no Ks in his first post-TJS outing. Hopefully passed his health test with flying colors.
8. OF Desmond Lindsay - bad start to his season came to a screeching halt with a 4 for 5 outing on Wednesday. Hitting better than Todd Frazier so far, for what that's worth.
9. C Francisco Alvarez - rookie ball - check back in June.
10. RHSP Simeon Woods-Richardson - the Dems have AOC - we have SWR. Very encouraging so far. Fanned the side in his first inning of his first Columbia outing, then 3 innings of 2 hit, no run, no walk ball.
11. RHSP Franklyn Kilome - on IL with TJS. Check back next season.
12. OF Adrian Hernandez
13. C Tomas Nido - I apologized for putting him this high as I was writing my Top 50. I need to listen to myself more. He reminds me of the Jennifer Garner flick, "13 Going On 30." He did go 2 for 3 in his first post-demotion game.
14. OF Freddy Valdez
15. RHSP Jordan Humphreys - Tommy John victim who is still on the IL. Hopefully pitching soon.
16. IF Sherveyn Newton
17. IF Will Toffey - 2 for 14 season start, but he does have a homer. I'll take a homer every 14 at bats any time.
18. C Ali Sanchez - OK, he is 1 for 10. We wait to see if the bat can catch up with the defense.
19. RHSP Tony Dibrell - one nice start, 4 innings, 2 runs in his St. Lucie debut. 6 strikeouts in 4 innings, par for his course.
20. RHSP Junior Santos
# 21 IF Gavin Cecchini
# 22 C Pat Mazeika - 2 for 15, 3 walk start to his season.
# 23 OF Matt Winaker - 0-13 start in Lucie debut, only 1 K. Hits will fall.
# 24 IF Michael Paez - 1 for 8, 5 Ks. Slow out of the gate.
# 25 RHSP Jaison Vilera -after his great Cyclone season in 2018, he went 5 strong in his Fireflies debut, with 2 runs allowed and 5 Ks.
# 26 IF David Thompson - no doubt wants to be another J.D. Davis. Seven RBIs in the first 6 games gets people's attention. Keep it up, David.
# 27 IF Carlos Cortes - The 21 year old is 4 for 23 with 3 walks in his St Lucie debut, and now that he is hitting as well as Todd Frazier, he needs to better.
# 28 RHRP Ryley Gilliam - 2018 5th rounder off to a blistering start, 4 innings, 2 hits, no runs or walks, 8 Ks - Queens by late 2019? Mack thinks so - and when is he ever wrong? I am going with Mack on this one.
# 29 OF Quinn Brodey - 9 for 27 season start gives hope that his hitting is about to catch up to the rest of his fine tools.
# 30 RHRP Eric Hanhold - the 6'5" hurler has 2 scoreless relief outings. Keep it up. The NY Mets pen needs help.
Besides the Brennan Top 30, who in the system that would still have "Prospect" status is deserving of Top 30 status?

Unrelated, but Matt Harvey has a 10.00 + ERA. Right move expunging the Dark Night.
Strange start so far in the pipeline. Frankly light bats. I don't think there is a single HR so far on all 4 teams.
Parent wise... horrible pitching and light hitting by Cano and Nimmo...
And yet, tied for first place.
Cano will right himself. Nimmo SHOULD right himself. I'm more concerned with Zack Wheeler on whom we were relying for ace-caliber stuff. Steven Matz has been a pleasant surprise. Jason Vargas has been, well, Jason Vargas. Jeurys Familia and Seth Lugo have been disappointments thus far.
The farm is intriguing but light on proven talent (proven in the prospect sense, I mean). Syracuse is an old age home and a holding pen for mediocre relief arms. Hopefully, a couple of the Binghamton bats will heat up with the weather.

i like the 'old age' approach to AAA. Park well used (experienced) cars there for an emergency.
The 'new' Mets have proven that they are not afraid of bumping a level or two for the right players. Ryley Gilliam's promotion from Brooklyn to St. Lucie is a perfect example.
I would expect most quality Mets promotions to Queens could come from the B-Mets this year.
C'mon Mack, Ryley Gilliam will be in Queens by the All Star break. Throwing like Edwin Diaz II.
Despite light hitting Cano and Nimmo, I wonder if any Met team in its history has scored as many as 69 runs in the first 11 games. Wow.
And forget the veterans, Dilson Herrera seems to have come to play this year, even if not in my Top 30 because he is no longer a "prospect". Dilson only just turned 25 - it ain't too late.
Did you see the A-whuppin' the Nats put on Bryce's Phils? Nats could be a real problem this year.
Day game for St Lucie today - excellent start by rising Tony Dibrell. Gilliam a perfect inning (no K!), and excellent games by Brodey and Linday. Brodey hitting .387 after this game.
Blake Taylor save today for St Lucie - interesting that he is closing for St Lucie a new role for him. 3 saves now, and the same 1.93 ERA as Edwin Diaz.
Starting never worked for Familia - maybe pitching out of the pen will similarly work for former 2nd rounder Blake Taylor.
Again unrelated to my article:
Braves were 0-3 in March but rebounded to 7-1 this month with a + 24 in runs scored. Mets look like they will have hands FULL in Hotlanta.
Early season results can be highly skewed. Seattle is averaging 8 runs per game, and has scored more runs (110) than Cleveland, Toronto and Detroit COMBINED (108).
JAY BRUCE HAS 7 HOMERS. Their 1B Vogelbach has 9 extra base hits in 26 at bats. Meanwhile Chris Davis is 0 for 29.
