Tough opening week for Binghamton as they start the season 0-5.
In the 5
games played last week in Akron, they were outscored 31-11. Overall Binghamton is hitting .194 with 1 HR,
9 RBIs - .323 OBP and .256 slugging.
Pitching
wise 6.02 ERA with a 1.463 WHIP.
Top hitter so far: Sebastian Elizalde, .333/.429/.417. The star of the Mexican Pacific League these past two winters has picked up where he left off giving the Rumble Ponies some much needed offense.
Three Binghamton Pitchers have shined so far:
Yeizo Campos, Binghamton, W: 0 L: 0 ERA: 0.00 Games: 2 IP: 4.1 HR: 0 BB: 3 K’s: 4 WHIP: 0.92;
Andrew Mitchell, Binghamton, W: 0 L: 0 ERA: 0.00 Games: 2 IP: 4.1 HR: 0 BB: 1 K’s: 4 WHIP: 0.46;
Tylor Megill, Binghamton, W: 0 L: 0 ERA: 1.80 Games: 1 IP: 5 HR: 0 BB: 3 K’s: 10 WHIP: 1.00:
To me, the biggest surprise of the season so far has been the
bullpen. Looking at the Opening Day
Roster, it looked like an area of strength for the Ponies. Andrew Mitchell has done well. But two
pitchers who have done well in the past in Binghamton have struggled - Joe Zanghi (2,2 innings – 6 runs allowed) and Ryley Gilliam (1.2
innings – 5 runs allowed).
Not sure if it is the late/abbreviated Spring Training for most Minor League Players or adjusting to the cold weather, but hopefully being home this week in Binghamton starts the Ponies on the winning track.
Here is last week’s game log:

Nice recap John.
You know how bummed I am at Gilliam this season.
Hopefully he will come around. I think he was rushed a bit in 2019.
This is an old team, bereft of talent. Pure Sandy.

Hitting .194 with a 6.02 ERA - ugh - right now, my AA focus is on Megill and Vientos.
