Former New York Mets pitching prospect, Matt Pobereyko, has died suddenly of a heart attack on Friday. He was 31.
The 6-3, 220 pound righthander was drafted in 2017 by Arizona, out of Kentucky Wesleyan College, in Owebsboro KY.
He pitched for three Mets affiliates in 2018:
St. Lucie - 21-appearances, 2-3, 3.19, 48-IP, 55-K
Binghamton - 5-appearances, 1-0, 0.00, 5.2-IP, 6-K
Las Vegas - 1-appearance, 0-0, 12.00, 3-IP, 0-K
We were long term Facebook friends.

Incredibly sad - there was a nice article done on him by NBC News.
It said, the autopsy showed nothing and..."For what we know now, there's really no leads," Daniel Pobereyko said. "They saw him earlier in the week, and he seemed to be perfectly fine."
Pobereyko played two winter seasons, 2021-22 and 2022-23, for Algodoneros de Guasave in the Mexican Pacific League, and the team placed a wreath on the pitcher's mound at Kuroda Park in Guasave and wrote the number 56 in chalk.
The memorial included a handwritten message: "Thanks for giving so much joy.”
HOPEFULLY THAT IS A HANDWRITTEN MESSAGE OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY WOULD LEAVE WHEN WE GO EVENTUALLY. Let's give "so much joy", like Matt did.
So sad to hear.
