Lindor, Alonso, McNeil, Díaz, Nimmo and Marte Also Ranked on Top 100 Players Right Now! Series

February 23, 2023 – New York Mets starting pitcher Justin Verlander was ranked 14^th, while teammate Max Scherzer ranked 15^th on MLB Network’s Top 100 Players Right Now! last night. The nine-time MLB All-Star Verlander, who ranked 92^nd on the countdown last year, finished one spot ahead of Scherzer and one spot behind 2022 National League Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins. The three-time Cy Young Award winner Scherzer finished one spot ahead of 2022 American League Rookie of the Year Award winner Julio Rodríguez of the Seattle Mariners and one spot behind Verlander. In addition to Verlander and Scherzer, teammate Francisco Lindor ranked 21^st and Pete Alonso ranked 31^st on the series’ February 16 episode, Jeff McNeil ranked 45^th, Edwin Díaz ranked 51^st and Brandon Nimmo ranked 54^th on the February 15 show, and Starling Marte ranked 61^st on the February 9 edition.
