MACK – Let’s Revisit - RHRP - Ryan Dollar
Ryan Joseph Dollar is a 22-year-old right-handed relief pitcher in the New York Mets’ minor-league system, currently with the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones. Background and Path
He’s a power-oriented arm who has transitioned successfully to pro relief work after uneven college results.Repertoire
- Born October 4, 2003, in Houston, Texas.
- Height/weight: 6'3", 220 lbs; bats/throws right.
- High school: MacArthur (Houston, TX). He was a physical two-way player (RHP/3B/SS) who showed arm strength and some bat potential as an amateur.
- College: University of Houston (2023–2025). His college numbers were mixed—he struggled with control and high ERAs early (especially as a freshman) but showed strikeout ability in relief and some starting looks as a junior. He was more effective in shorter stints.
- Signed by the Mets as an undrafted free agent on a minor-league contract on July 19, 2025. He debuted in the Florida Complex League (FCL Mets) later that summer, moved to Low-A St. Lucie Mets in April 2026, and was promoted to Brooklyn on May 19, 2026.
- Named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 24–30, 2026.
- High strikeout rate overall (~11.5–12 K/9 range in minors) with manageable walk rates relative to his college issues.
- Fastball: Primary pitch. As an amateur/high-school and early college arm, it sat in the upper 80s to low 90s with life/explosion out of the hand and “heavy life in the zone,” topping out at 92–94 mph. Reports from college showcases noted sitting 90–93 with life. It generated swing-and-miss when elevated.
- Slider: Sharp offering with biting tilt/heavy tilting drop. Velocities reported in the upper 70s to low 80s as an amateur; flashed swing-and-miss potential.
- Curveball: Slower, bigger breaking ball with late bite. One college report noted high spin (~2,692 rpm) and the ability to land it or bury it for swing-and-miss.
- Changeup: Present as an amateur (mid-80s range) but less emphasized in available notes.
The Mets’ player-development track record with velocity and secondary pitches suggests potential for further refinement.
Dollar is a developmental bullpen arm showing solid results at High-A after signing relatively late. He’s not currently a top organizational prospect but has performed well enough to earn a midseason promotion and weekly honors.

Can Dollar inflate his velo some more, and make major league dollars?
