MACK – Let’s Revisit - OF - Bohan Adderley

Bohan Adderley (full name Bohan Christopher Adderley) is a young New York Mets minor-league prospect from Nassau, Bahamas. Key Bio Details
  • Born: November 10, 2006 (age 19 as of 2026).
  • Height/Weight: 6'3", 180 lbs.
  • Bats/Throws: Right/Right.
  • Primary positions: Shortstop / outfielder (versatile infielder who has also played 2B/3B; listed as OF or SS in various sources).
He signed with the Mets as an international free agent on January 15, 2024 (part of their 2024 international class) after developing at International Elite (I-Elite) Sports Academy in the Bahamas. He is one of the more recent Bahamian talents to reach pro baseball. Career Path and Performance
  • 2024: Debuted in the Dominican Summer League (DSL Mets Orange). In 47 games: .229 AVG, .356 OBP, .320 SLG (.676 OPS), 1 HR, 27 SB (in 28 attempts). Strong on-base skills and elite speed stood out.
  • 2025: Florida Complex League (FCL Mets). Struggled offensively (.175 AVG, .296 OBP, .263 SLG, .559 OPS in 49 games) but still stole 21 bases.
  • 2026: Strong rebound with the FCL Mets and St Lucie: .277 in 66 G
  • 2026 - A/St. Lucie - 45-AB, .311/.380/.422/.802
  • 35 of 38 steals in just 66 games in 2026
Career minor-league totals (through available 2026 data) show a .233 AVG, solid OBP, and high stolen-base totals (70+), highlighting his toolsy profile: athleticism, speed, and defensive versatility with developing power and plate discipline.Notable ConnectionsAdderley is close with Yankees star Jazz Chisholm Jr. (also Bahamian). Chisholm played with Adderley’s older brother Bakari growing up, and the two stay in regular contact—Adderley has said he texts Chisholm often to pick his brain about the game. This relationship has been noted in Mets coverage during Spring Breakout events.

He’s still early in his pro career (complex/rookie levels into Low-A/High-A) and not yet a top-ranked prospect, but scouts and Mets watchers have highlighted his athleticism, speed, and recent offensive improvement as reasons for optimism in the Mets system.

Adderley is, at least, three years away

Adderley is by no means a future major leaguer…we saw where Bahamian speedster Champ Stuart flamed out in AAA…but Adderley will be interesting to watch.

You and I could write an entire book on DSL stars that went poof

We could call it the Simon Juan Saga, available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I’d do a chapter on Vicente Lupo.

Some stars emerge from DSL ball, but so very few ever make it to the big leagues.

Would changing the signing age to 18, as has supposed to be recommended in the new MLB proposed agreement, cut down on the DSL " flame-outs"?

Good question

D J, what I don’t like is how young these guys are when the ones with potential need to be added to the 40 man roster. Some could be 21 or 22. Wandy Asigen? I believe age 21. Some stateside guys aren’t even drafted yet at that age:

“Wandy Asigen must be added to the New York Mets 40-man roster after the 2030 season (ahead of the December 2030 Rule 5 Draft) to protect him from being selected by another team. Because Asigen officially signed his contract during the international signing period on January 15, 2026 at the age of 16, MLB roster rules dictate that he must be protected within five seasons of signing. This gives the Mets until the conclusion of the 2030 minor league pipeline to formally place him on the 40-man roster”
