"In September, the Mets finally elevated the 20-year-old to Double-A Binghamton, where he hit .323/.364/.452 in eight games. “He needed to go to the next level,” a major league talent evaluator said. “That kind of pushed him. "Eric Prescott Kay’s lead defense attorney said his client didn’t give Skaggs drugs that night and there was no way to know whether the fentanyl Kay is accused of providing was the cause of Skaggs’ death in Texas....Defense attorney Reagan Wynn told jurors Kay entered Skaggs’ hotel room in a Dallas suburb on June 30, 2019, to find the pitcher sitting at a table with lines of powdery substances in front of him. Press Release: Six Games Added to Syracuse Mets 2022 Schedule

 



Syracuse to play 150 games in 2022, including 75 home games at NBT Bank Stadium 

 

SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse Mets 2022 season has been extended from 144 games to 150 games with the season finale moved from September 21st to September 28th. With the additional games, Syracuse will play three more road games and three more home games. The season still begins on April 5th. This will be the most games played in the International League since 1964 when there were 154 scheduled games from April 22nd to September 11th. That same season, the Pacific Coast League played 156 games from April 16th to September 13th.  

Syracuse was originally going to end the season with three games in Worcester from Monday, September 19th to Wednesday, September 21st. Now, Monday September 19th will be an off day, and Syracuse will play at Worcester from Tuesday, September 20th to Sunday, September 25th.   

The Mets will conclude the regular season at home at NBT Bank Stadium with three games from Monday, September 26th to Wednesday, September 28th against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Game times for those three games in Syracuse are as follows: 

  • Monday, September 26th: 6:35 p.m. 
  • Tuesday, September 27th: 6:05 p.m. 
  • Wednesday, September 28th: 11:05 a.m. 

Wednesday’s regular-season finale at NBT Bank Stadium will be a special 11:05 a.m. start for a second Education Day as the Mets will welcome students and staff from school districts in the Central New York community to enjoy a fun, educational day at the ballpark.  

Season tickets and Flex Plans for the 2022 Syracuse Mets baseball season are on sale now. Single game tickets will go on sale Saturday, March 5, 2022. Fans can purchase tickets at the Onondaga Coach Ticket Office at NBT Bank Stadium or over the phone at 315-474-7833 during regular office hours (Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or online anytime at SyracuseMets.com.  

Opening Day for the Syracuse Mets is scheduled for Tuesday, April 5th at 6:35 p.m. at NBT Bank Stadium against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. The first 1000 fans through the gates on April 5th will receive a Syracuse Mets Bucket Hat, courtesy of Gannon Pest Control. After the game, fans can conclude the Opening Day celebration with the first fireworks extravaganza of the year, courtesy of Gannon Pest Control! FLUSHING, N.Y., February 8, 2022 – The New York Mets today announced the team will host an Old Timers' Day Game prior to the Saturday, August 27 game vs. Colorado. The Old Timers' Day player introductions will begin at 5 p.m. ahead of the scheduled 7:10 p.m. game vs. the Rockies. Single game tickets are available on Mets.com/tickets. Gates will open at 4:10 p.m. 

"Bringing back Old Timers' Day was one of the most passionate requests I heard from our fans," said Mets Chairman, CEO and Owner Steve Cohen. "As we celebrate our 60th Anniversary season, having these legendary players return to the ballpark to hear cheers from Mets fans once again is the perfect way to honor our past." 

Frank Thomas, Ron Swoboda, Jon Matlack, Felix Millán, Mookie Wilson, Howard Johnson, Bobby Ojeda, Robin Ventura, Turk Wendell, Endy Chávez, Cliff Floyd and Daniel Murphy are among some of the over 40 players scheduled to attend. The Mets will be announcing additional former players who will be participating in the game in the coming months. 

Thomas, who led the original 1962 Mets with 34 home runs, is excited to return to Queens. 

"I plan on taking some BP before the game," said Thomas, now 92. "I hit homers at the Polo Grounds and at Shea. I would love to hit one at Citi Field." 

Ventura, who starred at third base from 1999-2001 for the Amazin's, will be among those participating. 

"Maybe we can recreate my Grand Slam Single," laughed Ventura, referring to his memorable hit in Game Five of the 1999 NLCS vs. Atlanta. "Fans remember that hit more than if I had actually been credited with a grand slam." 

Matlack, who was inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame in 2021, pitched for the Mets from 1971-1977. 

"Being back in the clubhouse with the guys will be great," said Matlack. "But probably the thing I'm looking forward to the most is being able to see the Tom Seaver statue. Tom meant everything to my career. He was such a terrific teammate." 

Murphy, who was the Most Valuable Player of the 2015 National League Championship Series and played with the Mets from 2008-2015, is thrilled to be back at Citi Field. 

"It will be great to put on a Mets uniform again," said Murphy. "I'm sure when I hit the field my mind will be racing back to 2015. That was an incredibly special time." 

The Mets last hosted an Old Timers' Day Game in 1994.
