8-14-11: - metsmerizedonline.  - Hansel Robles - The 21 year old RHP from the Dominican, was signed as an IFA in 2009. In 12 games this year, 30 IP, he is 3-1 with a 2.97 ERA. His K/BB ratio is 33/13, and opponents are hitting .232 against him.

8-22-11: - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/814874-new-york-mets-who-the-mets-should-add-to-their-40-man-roster-on-september-1st  -  Jeurys Familia P Binghampton Mets (Double-A): 20 GS with Binghamton and Single-A Adv St. Lucie 5-4, 2.81 ERA, 120 Ks, 109.0 IP Familia, an Eastern League All-Star this season, has electric stuff and he has used it to strike out 120 batters in only 109 innings in starts for Binghamton and St. Lucie. The Mets already have some more developed pitching prospects similar to Familia in Pedro Beato and Jenrry Mejia already in the majors and Triple-A, but with the current rotation status of the Mets they can't have enough pitching. Familia is still a little raw as a pitcher, but he will mature quickly with a call-up to the majors in September.

8-23-11: - DSL 2011 End of Season Wrap-Up - http://www.nyfuturestars.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=35808&sid=e8719b8eddffd9bc033d0ab708d8aff5  - Persio Reyes, 18, SP - Reyes started 14 games between both the Mets 1 and Mets 2 teams. He won 4 games while keeping his ERA under 2 (1.95) and his WHIP under 1 (.98)

Rather then admitting some wrongdoing and settling, New York Mets owners Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz decided to take on the trustee in charge of sorting out the Bernie Madoff scandal. Last week, they basically lost in court when a three-judge panel ruled that Irving H. Picard, the trustee in charge of sorting out the Madoff scandal, was correct in claiming that the two owners benefited to the tune of $300 million. This could force Wilpon and Katz to turn over $300 million to the trustee. Combine this with the Mets' struggles and it's not a nice combination for the owners of the team.- http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/bob-mets-owners-in-hot-water

8-24-11: - http://www.minorleagueball.com/2011/8/24/2381743/minor-league-notes-august-24-2011#storyjump  - New York Mets prospect Chris Schwinden is having a solid year for Triple-A Buffalo and could receive a promotion for the stretch run. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 3.60 ERA with a 119/44 K/BB in 130 innings, with 115 hits allowed. He's given up 12 homers and has a 0.61 GO/AO ratio. Drafted in the 22nd round in 2008 from Fresno Pacific, Schwinden struggled last year in Double-A (5.56 ERA, 100 hits in 79 innings) but has been more effective this year. His velocity is mediocre (88-90) for a right-hander, but he throws strikes and mixes in a curveball and cutter. He has little margin for error and could be a Quadruple-A type, but there's at least some chance he could develop into a fifth starter or long reliever

Stock: - Kyle Allen, Juan Urbina, Persio Reyes, Nick Evans, Chad Huchingson

8-5-11: - Stock Down – SP Kyle Allen – Look, I don’t like saying bad things about the kids, but, if you’re going to have a “stock up, stock down” feature, you have to have some down, right. Last night: 3.2-IP, 4-WP, 4-ER. Bottom line here is Kyle Allen is not going to be a successful starter in major league baseball, so maybe it’s time (like Brad Holt) to send this kid to the pen where he can concentrate on the positive aspects of his game.

8-5-11: - Stock Up – SP Juan Urbina - It’s been a while since we said something positive about prospect Urbina, but today is the day. Hopefully, he began a turnaround last night, going 6.0-IP, 1-ER, 5-H, 6-K, 1-BB for Kingsport. Let’s remember that he just turned 18-years old. ETA is 2015.

8-5-11: - El Stocko Upo – Persio Reyes – Frankly, there isn’t enough information coming out of the DSL system to determine whether or not someone is turning heads. All we have is stats and they are currently telling us that the 18-year old Reyes is turning some heads. Today: 4.0 scoreless innings. VFor the season: 3-1, 2.36 in 14 games. K/IP ratio isn’t there (47/61.0) but he’s worth watching.

8-5-11: - Stock Up – Nick Evans – Evans was promoted to Queens for the 6,687th time in the past three years. He fills the slot opened when C Mike Nickeas was sent back to Buffalo. My hope here is the Mets play Lucas Duda in right field for the rest of the season, and use Evans on first. This would also allow the Mets to play Daniel Murphy the rest of the season at second base.

8-5-11: - Stock Up – Chad Huchingson – it’s going to be interesting to see how this kid is showcased next season. He started out as a starter in Savannah, but has been a steady influence in the pen since the all-star break. He also has done very little wrong at either job. Hutch produced three more scoreless innings Friay and lowered his season ERA to 1.70 in 21 games (8 starts).
