Lexington 4, Savannah 1

Missed opportunities were the theme of the night for the Sand Gnats as they dropped a, 4-1, decision to the Legends Tuesday night at Historic Grayson Stadium. Ross Seaton (5-4) notched his first win in the month of May for Lexington while Jeurys Familia (3-3) suffered the loss for the Sand Gnats. The Gnats (23-21) stranded seven runners through the middle innings including three in scoring position. Trailing, 1-0, in the fourth, Sean Ratliff broke out of an 0-for-21 slump with a base hit, but Josh Satin was thrown out at home plate to end the inning. Savannah had runners at the corners with one out in the fifth when Rafael Fernandez grounded into an inning-ending double play. A sacrifice fly by Wilmer Flores in the sixth plated the only run of the game for the Sand Gnats and made the score 3-1. Eric Campbell was left on at second with the tying run at the plate as Ratliff flew out to left to retire the side. Lexington led wire-to-wire again tonight as they scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Ebert Rosario in the first. The Gnats have yet to lead in this series. Savannah did register nine hits including the third multi-hit game from catcher Jean Luc Blaquiere, who had a pair of singles. Every Gnat had a hit except Rafael Fernandez and Jordany Valdespin. Familia became the first Gnats pitcher to start the eighth inning this season, going seven innings plus two batters in the eighth. He allowed four runs on six hits with three strikeouts and a walk. The Sand Gnats look to salvage the final game of their four-game series with the Legends tomorrow night as they try to avoid the sweep.
