LAST GAME: Binghamton opened the second half in fine fashion

with a 5-1 win over New Hampshire at Merchantsauto.com

Stadium Thursday night. Mike Antonini recorded his fourth

consecutive quality start to earn the win. The lefty hurled 6.2

innings and allowed just an unearned run on six hits and was

followed by John Lujan and Edgar Ramirez, who took it the

rest of the way in scoreless fashion. Rey Gonzalez held the BMets

off until the sixth inning when Marshall Hubbard plated a

run with a fielder’s choice. Brahiam Maldonado struck the

crippling blow in the seventh with a towering three-run blast to

left off Gonzalez, his sixth homer of the year. Sean Ratliff

rounded out the scoring with an RBI double to straightaway

center off Danny Farquhar, giving him a three-hit day. Gonzalez

was charged with five runs over 6.1 innings to drop his

first game since joining the Fisher Cats two weeks ago. Eric

Thames led all hitters with a 4-4 showing, including a double.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Robert Carson will make

his Double-A debut tonight after being promoted from St.

Lucie (High-A) yesterday. The southpaw made 17 appearances

(16 starts) in the Florida State League and went 7-5 with a

4.17 ERA over 86.1 innings. Carson had tossed six innings or

better in five of his last six starts with St. Lucie. He made 25

starts for Savannah (Low-A) in 2009 and tallied an 8-10 mark

with a 3.21 ERA over 131.2 innings. The lefty was a South

Atlantic League All-Star last year. Carson was selected in the

14th round of the June 2007 draft out of Hattiesburg HS (MS).

LHP Jo-Jo Reyes, recently traded to Toronto (AL) from Atlanta

(NL) July 14, will make his Fisher Cats’ debut tonight. At the

time of the trade, Reyes was with the Gwinnett Braves (AAA)

where he was 1-5 with a 5.70 ERA over 47.1 innings, including

10 starts. He made one appearance with Atlanta this season

and allowed nine runs in a relief appearance April 12. The

lefty has spent parts of the last three seasons in the Major

Leagues with a career 5-15 record and a 6.09 ERA over 190.2

innings. He was originally selected in the second round of the

June 2003 draft out of Riverside Poly HS (CA) by Atlanta
