He settled one option Friday, choosing Auburn from among the wave of top collegiate baseball programs seeking his commitment. Coming in at number 18 on the list is Bethune-Cookman junior catcher Peter O’Brien. He is from Miami Gardens, Florida where he attended Braddock High School. As a freshman in 2009, he appeared in 50 games (39 starts) while hitting .314 with four homers and driving in 30 runs. He was named a first team All-MEAC team member while being named a Freshman All-American by Louisville Slugger and Baseball America. O’Brien had a breakout season as a sophomore which saw him play in 57 games (56 starts) as he hit .386 with 20 homers and driving in 56 runs. Senior catcher Drew Pixley made all 12 starts behind the plate in 2010 that didn’t go to Laws for Murray State. Pixley batted .309 with no home runs, six RBI and 14 runs scored in 2010. The left-handed pitcher appeared in 22 total games for Murray State in 2010. Brandon Nimmo is a sweet swinging left handed OF out of Cheyenne, Wyoming. His school doesn't have high school baseball so he doesn't have a lot of experience but he doesn't show it. Even without a team, he still made it to the Under Armour All American game at Wrigley Field, in which he won the co-MVP. He has a confident approach at the plate and puts up good results. Miami-Dade Community College SO OF Brian Goodwin  is coming off as great a freshman season (.317/.439/.564 – 49 BB/45 K – 8/10 SB) as you’ll hope to see. Again, to do that as a freshman playing every single game in the ACC is something that deserves even more credit than it probably got last season. Here’s what I wrote about him in mid-March of last year: You can’t see me right now, but I’m literally sitting here with my mouth open, hands on my head, and a stupider than usual look on my face. I would have bet good money I don’t have that Brian Goodwin, outstanding prospect that he clearly was and is, would struggle his first few weeks as he transitioned to playing big-time collegiate baseball.
