
Sunday night in Washington, the Nationals came from behind and scored 3 times in the bottom of the 8
th inning as they beat the Mets 6-5. For the second straight day the Mets offense looked sharp. In the top of the first the Mets took a 2-0 lead on an rbi double by Daniel Murphy and a rbi single by Lucas Duda. In the top of the 2
nd, Matt Den Dekker connected for his first major league homer off Ross Ohlendorf and it was 3-zip. The Nats scored single runs in the 2
nd and 4
th innings off Jonathon Niese. The Mets made it 4-2 in the 6
th on a rbi single by Murphy. In the 7
th, Lucas Duda added his second rbi single and it was 5-2 Mets. Niese wasn’t as sharp as his last outing but he protected the lead until he left the game with 2 outs in the 6
th inning with a minor leg injury. Niese went 5 2/3 he allowed 10 hits 2 runs (both earned) he walked 2 and struck out 4. He gets the no decision. The Nats made it 5-3 in the bottom of the 7
th against Scott Atchison. In the bottom of the 8
th The Nats rallied to scored 3 times. 2 against Scott Rice and once against loser Gonzalez German to complete the comeback win and salvage the 3
rd game of the 3 game set. Raefal Sorino pitched the 9
th earning his 36
th save. The Mets managed 13 hits in the game only to fall short. Eric Young Jr., Murphy, Duda and Den Dekker each had 2 hits piece. Daniel Murphy is currently on 13 for 24 tear. Erick Davis gets the win he’s now 1-0, Germen falls to 1-2. The Mets now stand at 62-73 on the year and 34-35 on the road. Monday afternoon it’s a quick turn-a-round as the Mets are in action in Atlanta. Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-2 8.68) goes for the Mets. Paul Maholm (9-10 4.37) goes for the Braves.
